How to Get out of a Mess
A mess is generally made up of many parts. The first thing to do is realize that you are part of it and whatever part you are, makes little difference. Messes are the result of sins, and the good life is the result of righteousness. If you want a mess, continue to sin. If you want the good life, then start being good by doing good (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10-11). It is the only way to solve your problems.
Now, if you do good for anyone, except God, you will get puffed-up and think you are a pretty nice person and that again is sin. God says your righteousness, if not done to please God, is as a flithy rag or as the original Hebrew text says, dirty menstrual cloth (Is. 64:6). Since Jesus Christ said He was not good, and yet all He did was good, it would be blasphemy for us to think of ourselves as good, except through Jesus Christ (Luke 18:19; 24:19; Acts 10:38; John 21:25). Paul understood this, because he said, "I am convinced that there is no good thing in me" (Rom. 7:18; 8:1).
Now, there are some other directions to follow. You have got to care to get there, and you must start to finish. You must keep your eye upon the goal. You must persevere to win your soul (Luke 21:19). The more good you do, the better you will feel. The better you feel, the more good you will do. It is an endless glory race, that makes you wear a happy face. Jesus said it is easy, pleasant and rewarding (Matt. 11:30; 6:33).
Jesus Christ wants you to come to Him (Matt. 11:28-29; 2 Tim. 2:7). This is why He came. Will you study His word daily so He can teach you? Will you live to please God every day, in all that you think, do and say? If you do, He will please you and bless all you do, and answer your prayers when you pray.
God can help you get out of the mess you are in, if you will obey Him and live for Him daily.
